HTML5 Opportunities and Case Sharing

7pm. 25th July

Since its initial by WHATWG (Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group) in 2004, HTML5 has been well-known among web developers for years. However, it became the topic of mainstream media years later in 2010, after Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs published his opinion that with the development of HTML5, Adobe Flash is no longer necessary to watch video or consume any kind of web content.

As a language for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web, HTML5’s core aims have been to improve the language with support for the latest multimedia while keeping it easily readable by humans and consistently understood by computers and devices. Although still under development, it has sparked a debate in web development circles where some suggested that while HTML5 provides enhanced functionalities,  developers must consider the varying browser support of the different parts of the standard as well as other functionality differences between HTML5 and Flash.

In particular, HTML5 adds many new syntactical features, which are designed to make it easy to include and handle multimedia and graphical content on the web without having to resort to proprietary plugins and APIs. So what can we do with HTML5? Is it ready yet? How can we be inspired by the current players? In this Mobile Monday Beijing evening, we will invite experts from major players in this area and share their most up-to-date experiences. We wish to have a great brainstorm with you and explore the potential opportunities with HTML5.

Event will be mainly in English.
